The Loren L. Zachary Society for the Performing Arts was founded in 1972 by the late Loren L. Zachary and its current president, Nedra Zachary. The organization's primary goal is to assist in the development of the careers of young opera singers through the annual Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition.

The original competition prize format was to present monetary awards plus a flight to Europe for auditioning and contacts were possible through theatre agent introductions. This combination of a money and a transportation prize was very successful and many of the finalists were able to establish major careers in opera. As there are now many opportunities for career advancement in the United States our vocal competition awards are monetary prizes in great amounts. All of the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition winners and finalists are posted on the "Finalists" page. You will also find videos of the singers performing at the most recent final competitions for your listening pleasure.
